How Tails Co-Op Works
Tails Co-Op is a membership cooperative — not insurance, not a discount card. It's a community of verified pet professionals pooling their buying power to access veterinary services at prices that actually make sense.
Step 1: Verify Your Eligibility
Tails Co-Op is exclusively for pet professionals. When you sign up, we'll ask you to verify your role — whether you're a vet tech, shelter worker, groomer, trainer, veterinarian, breeder, or boarding/daycare staff. This keeps our pricing exclusive and our community focused.
Step 2: Join for $100/Year
Your annual membership covers you and up to 5 of your personal pets. That's it — one flat fee, no surprise charges, no copays, no deductibles. Need to add more pets? The additional pet add-on is just $25/year each.
Step 3: Access Your Member Benefits
Once you're a member, you unlock:
- Smarty Vets — Credentialed members get access to a telemedicine platform they can use with their own clients and patients, plus medication fulfillment
- Smarty Tests — Order diagnostics from a real lab at member pricing
- Rx Fulfillment — Prescriptions filled and shipped directly to your door
- Circle Community — A private, members-only space to connect with fellow pet professionals, share knowledge, and support each other
Step 4: Complete Your Member Setup
After purchasing your membership, you'll fill out a short onboarding form to register your pets and verify your professional credentials. This ensures your VCPR (Veterinary-Client-Patient Relationship) compliance and gets your account fully activated.
What This Is NOT
Tails Co-Op is not pet insurance. We don't process claims, require pre-authorization, or deny coverage. We're a cooperative that negotiates group pricing on real veterinary services — telemedicine, diagnostics, and prescriptions — and passes those savings directly to members.
Founding Member Pricing
Early members lock in $100/year for life — no price increases, ever. As we grow and add new benefits, your rate stays the same. This is our way of rewarding the people who believe in the mission from day one.
