About
Who We Are
Tails Co-Op is a membership cooperative created by veterinarians for the people who power the pet care industry. We exist because the professionals who dedicate their careers to animal health — vet techs, shelter workers, groomers, trainers, breeders, and boarding staff — deserve access to affordable care for their own pets.
Too many pet professionals earn modest wages while surrounded by the very services they can't afford for their own animals. Tails Co-Op changes that equation.
What We Believe
We believe that if you spend your days caring for other people's pets, you shouldn't have to choose between paying rent and taking your own dog to the vet. We believe cooperative economics — pooling buying power across a community — can unlock pricing that no individual could negotiate alone.
What Members Get
For $100 per year, Tails Co-Op members receive:
- Coverage for themselves and up to 5 personal pets
- Access to Smarty Vets — a telemedicine platform credentialed members can use with their own clients and patients
- Member pricing on Smarty Tests diagnostic ordering
- Rx fulfillment shipped directly to your door
- A private Circle community connecting you with fellow pet professionals nationwide
Who Can Join
Tails Co-Op is open to verified pet professionals, including:
- Veterinarians
- Veterinary technicians and assistants
- Shelter and rescue staff
- Groomers
- Trainers and behaviorists
- Breeders
- Boarding and daycare staff
All members are verified during onboarding to maintain the integrity of the cooperative and ensure pricing stays exclusive to the people it was built for.
Founded by Veterinarians
Tails Co-Op was founded by Dr. Michelle Frye and the team at Kedi Labs. After years of watching talented colleagues struggle to afford basic veterinary care for their own pets, we decided to build something better — a cooperative where the pet care community takes care of its own.
